Belknap was born in Damariscotta Maine. Her parents are David Belknap and Louise Belknap. She studied at Lincoln Academy, Newcastle Maine. Acting became her passion during her time at Middlebury College Vermont. After earning her Master's degree in Fine Arts, she studied at the American Conservatory Theater.
